Our Climate Positive Journey

Climate Positive means going a step further than Carbon Neutral, by saving MORE greenhouse gas emissions than you are generating.

Our Commitment to the Planet

In August 2022, we partnered with Play It Green to improve our business’ sustainability practices and have a positive impact on the planet.

In return for a monthly cost per person, Play it Green plant 13 trees per person per month, instantly rebalancing their personal carbon footprint.

We are also making our business a Climate Positive one by rebalancing our historical and company emissions to become carbon neutral.  To reduce our overall business carbon footprint moving forward, we are working with Play it Green’s Net Zero Framework, Green Energy, giving us access to a network of sustainability experts.

We can track all the trees planted as they are added to our own Forest Garden.

All trees planted, replace lost ecosystems and the trees are monitored and protected. 10% of all revenue go to a charity of our choice.

The trees that are planted are cared for by Eden Reforestation Projects. Eden is a non-profit organisation based in California, USA, and they work in eight developing countries to reduce extreme poverty and restore healthy forests.  Eden operates in eight different nations:  Madagascar, Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia, Mozambique, Kenya, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Car Scheme

We give all our employees access to affordable electric cars for a fixed monthly amount through a salary sacrifice arrangement.

Our IT

The power used by our IT equipment each year could turn a 20 foot cube of ice into steam in just 1 hour. We are working to reduce it to a 15 foot cube.

Unreleased Print Jobs

In the last financial year, we saved 14,786 bulb hours and 236.kg of CO2 based on unreleased print jobs.

In the community

In the last 5 years we have raised over £19,700 for local charities.

We value people and our DNA (Core Values) is equally important and acts as a guide as to how we conduct ourselves.  Our employees work with clients in the local communities, and we play an active part in those communities.

We achieve this by focusing on employee wellbeing, career and learning opportunities and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.  We are committed to creating a workplace in which there is mutual trust and respect and where employees are recruited and promoted based on objective criteria and the qualifications and abilities needed for the job to be performed.  Dains is committed to equality of opportunity and adopts fair and inclusive practices throughout the business.

Dains encourages employee volunteering and charitable activities within the local communities in which we work, and we are committed to working with local schools, colleges, and universities to provide work placements, apprenticeships, and graduate opportunities.

Every year we will complete an annual ESG questionnaire and bi-annually, report against the TOMs framework (Themes, Outcomes and Measures) – a social value measurement tool.
