When you work at Dains you will quickly see that we care about our employees in the same way we care about our clients. You become part of a team of people who collaborate and innovate together during the working day, but who also enjoy spending time together outside of that to relax and have fun.
We believe our employees are our greatest asset, and we look to provide the best working environment, along with hybrid and smart working options and generous benefits. We listen, learn and evolve as we strive to make Dains a great place to work.
Everyone is treated with the same level of respect no matter what job title they have. We are all members of a team of people who are working together towards the same objective. So, if you need to ask a question or have a suggestion, you are encouraged to share it and get involved.
We empower you to deliver the highest quality service to clients which enables you to succeed in your career aspirations. Having a positive company culture is especially important to us.
I chose Dains due to its clear long-term commitment to staying at the forefront of technology and workplace software, as well as the supportive and positive culture. It makes such a big difference to the efficiency and satisfaction of everyday work, and in six months has already drastically improved my enjoyment of working in the audit sector and my understanding of technical concepts through regular internal training and general support.
Will Mann, Audit Senior
Our DNA defines how we work. Our core values are Valued Relationships, Fairness, Working and Succeeding Together, and Integrity, which are the principles we stand for as a firm.
Dains’ values make it easy to work with us and for us and define who we are as a company.
We build positive relationships with our clients and colleagues and are friendly in our approach. We enjoy what we do and make an effort to be helpful and proactive. We are respectful of the need to behave professionally and responsibly at all times.
We treat people as we would wish to be treated ourselves and do not take clients or colleagues for granted. We value every individual and are committed to treat everyone fairly. Whilst we do not treat everyone in the same way, we believe in providing equal opportunities for all. We keep people informed and aim to communicate in a sensitive and respectful way.
We enjoy working together to achieve success, and it is important to us that our clients enjoy working with us too. We value teamwork and empower people to ensure they are fulfilled in their role and that their efforts are recognised and appreciated. We play to our strengths and through doing so, we can help our clients and colleagues achieve their potential.
We are honest, trustworthy, and straightforward in our approach and adhere to the highest professional standards. We are accountable, reliable, and responsible which leads us to dealing with issues as they arise.
At Dains we strive to create a working environment that promotes and values diversity, where everyone feels empowered to be themselves.
We are committed to equal opportunities and to build a more inclusive team that reflects the communities we serve and are continuously making progress.
We welcome and encourage applications from all backgrounds, particularly candidates who are underrepresented in Dains. These include people from Black, Asian, and ethnic minority backgrounds.
The firm, in supplying services, is also committed against unlawful
discrimination of clients or the public.
It’s paramount to us that all employees develop their job-related skills and knowledge, and we’re hoping that training will increase employees’ effectiveness and enable them to contribute more to our success.
The company aims to give all employees the knowledge and skills they need to do their jobs well and with confidence, as well as support them to reach their full potential. Development and training can help our employees identify and develop their potential; respond positively to change, uncertainty, and conflict; increase their job satisfaction; improve their self-confidence, motivation, and initiative; and extend their range of responsibilities.
Training is a continual process and does not simply mean ‘courses’. The most significant training takes place on the job, so coaching is a key responsibility of anyone who manages, supervises, or mentors.
The wellbeing of our employees and their ability to balance work and home life is paramount to us. Therefore, we work hard to protect their mental health and wellbeing.
Our company has policies and procedures in place, and we have a free Employee Assistance Programme that gives practical and emotional support to employees.
We’re committed to staff health and wellness, so we have several Mental Health First Aiders at the firm and recently added mental wellbeing content to our established Wellbeing Centre on our intranet.
Partners and staff at Dains care deeply about giving back to the community where we live and work. Our company prides itself on its people-focused values and is always mindful of the impact its activities might have on others. As a firm, we want whatever we are doing to have only positive effects on our people, our clients and suppliers, our environment, and our community. As a result, we formed “Dains in the Community” in 2006, a team responsible for bringing our corporate responsibility agenda to life and promoting its importance across all parts of the company.
We contribute to the community in various ways from foodbank donations, charity challenges and donations, use of our volunteer days to help on community projects. Each year every employee can take 1 day and use it for volunteering purposes. The feedback we receive from our staff is that they find these days really rewarding and enjoy giving back to the community.
The Reward & Recognition Scheme was introduced to reward employees for going beyond their normal duties.
Each month, employees can nominate a colleague for Superstar of the Month, then our Practice Management Committee evaluates the submissions and selects a worthy winner. Each Superstar of the Month receives a £50 voucher to spend on our discounted shopping platform. During our annual Christmas party, we give recognition to the Employee of the Year (someone who has made an impact through top performance, and who is a great ambassador of our DNA (values). The winner of this award receives £250 and an engraved trophy.
Throughout the year we recognise and show our appreciation to additional colleagues who contribute to the success of the firm and who also live our values through working and succeeding together and valued relationships.
Furthermore, “thank you” is a guiding principle of our company, and people are encouraged to share e-cards to show appreciation.
