Dains Accountants highly successful Employment Services Tax team are expanding and recruiting an Employment Services Tax Trainee.

As an Employment Services Tax Trainee, you will be working alongside experts in their field, who offer support, guidance, encouragement, and career development to enable you to deliver and achieve your ambitions.

The Employment Services department provides advice and support to business clients in relation to employment taxes.  Employment taxes include PAYE and NIC payable on wages, salaries, and benefits in kind, but our advice covers the cost and treatment of almost every form of payment or reward that a business can provide to individuals.

We are essentially tax advisers/consultants and all members of our team have contact with clients and learn not just the technicalities around tax but how to interact with clients, scope, and price work, produce good oral and written advice, solve client problems, and manage the firm’s risks. 

We are great problem solvers and have a proven track record of training members of our team from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Involvement with the completion of statutory employment-taxes returns
  • Support in undertaking tax research
  • Support with ad-hoc client projects
  • Email updates to the team on employment taxes related recent developments by undertaking regular news checks, and keeping the team’s reading list up to date
  • Ad-hoc support in relation to payroll
  • Organise meetings and calls, both internal and external
  • Attending client and internal meetings with colleagues and taking meeting notes

  • Willing to study towards the ATT qualification (study support provided) with the opportunity to progress to CTA. 
  • Have a genuine interest in employment tax and compliance  
  • Analytical & methodical, both in relation to numbers and interpreting written content
  • Professional, approachable, and confident communicating at senior level
  • Able to priorities workload and think clearly under pressure
  • Enthusiasm and interest to learn and develop
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
